Do not use this method if you have installed previously using Synaptic (i.e. you installed the Debian packages).  This page describes how to manually update Airtime.  If you have installed using the APT repositories, everything will be handled automatically for you.

Airtime 2.4.X only supports upgrading from version 2.2.0 and above.

Read This Before You Begin

  • Playout will be interrupted when you upgrade and your listeners will be disconnected. Assuming everything goes smoothly, the interruption should not last more than 5 or 10 seconds. Playout will be resumed at the correct spot in the show so that the show will still end at the correct time.

How to Upgrade

1. Backup Your Existing Site

Click here for instructions on how to backup your existing database.

2. Download & Extract

Download Airtime from Sourceforge: https://sourceforge.net/projects/airtime/files/. Extract it to "~/airtime-2.4.0".  To do that from the command line, it looks like this:

tar xzvf airtime-2.4.0.tar.gz

4. Upgrade

To start the upgrade process type the following:

cd ~/airtime-2.4.0/install_full/ubuntu
sudo ./airtime-full-install

The upgrade process is now complete.
